Connie Ruth Byrd Gammel, age 74, resident of the Somerville Community and retired from Troxel in Moscow, departed this life Friday afternoon, October 3, 2014 at the Bolivar General Hospital.
Services of Remembrance for Mrs. Gammel were conducted at 11 A.M. Tuesday, October 7th at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville with Bro. Gary Joyner officiating. Interment followed in the Morris Chapel Cemetery near Somerville. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center - Main Chapel of Somerville.
Mrs. Gammel was born March 16, 1940 in Holly Springs, Mississippi. She received her education in the Marshall County, Mississippi Public School System and was a resident of North Mississippi and the Somerville Community for much of her life. She was employed with Troxel Manufacturing in Moscow for a number of years before her retirement. Mrs. Gammel was a member of the Morris Chapel Baptist Church near Somerville and had a deep love for her family and church family.
Mrs. Gammel is survived by three sons, Bobby Joe Gammel of Somerville, Gary Eugene Gammel of Somerville, Billy Wayne Gammel (Pamela) of Grand Junction; her sister, Virginia German (James) of Somerville; four brothers, Larry Byrd of Mississippi, Thomas Byrd (Marty) of Collierville, James Byrd (Bonnie) of Slayden, MS, Charles Byrd of Slayden, MS; five grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Warner Byrd, Gene Byrd, John Byrd and Lewis Byrd.
Those honored to serve as casketbearers were Joshua Gammel, Gary Wayne Gammel, Jonathan Gammel, Joey Gammel, Mark Hunsucker and Brian Hughes.
The family requests that memorials be directed to the Morris Chapel Baptist Church, 475 Feathers Chapel Drive, Somerville, TN 38068.
