COREY DOUGLAS EARNEST

April 10, 1975 — February 22, 2009

COREY DOUGLAS EARNEST, a resident of the Somerville Community, former Concrete Company Employee and husband of Rachael Smith Earnest died at 9 A.M. Sunday, February 22, 2009 at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis where he had been a patient for five days. He was 33 years of age and died following an extended illness.

Funeral services for Mr. Earnest were conducted at 2 P.M. Tuesday, February 24th at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Dr. Kenneth Culver, Pastor of the Warren Community Church at Somerville, officiating. Interment followed in the Fayette County Memorial Park Cemetery on Highway 64. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Home-West Chapel of Oakland.

Mr. Earnest was born April 10, 1975 in Memphis the son of Doug Earnest and the late Tracy Joyner Earnest. He was educated in the Fayette County Public School System and was a Graduate of the Fayette Ware High School in Somerville, Class of 1994.

Mr. Earnest was a lifelong resident of Fayette County and was married May 25, 1997 to the former Rachael Smith of Fayette County, Employee of Lens Crafters in Memphis, who survives.

He was of the Christian faith and was employed as a Concrete Truck Operator for several area Concrete Companies. He was employed by City Concrete Company of Piperton before retiring for health reasons.

Mr. Earnest will be remembered for his love of truck and car restorations. He enjoyed hunting and outdoor activities and was a devoted son, husband and father.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Earnest is survived by his ten-year-old son, Tyler Earnest of Somerville and he looked forward to the arrival of his soon to be born second child. He also leaves his sister, Nichole Floyd of Moscow; his uncle, Buddy Earnest of Somerville; his maternal grandmother, Virginia Ragland of Moscow; his mother-in-law, Sharon Hunsucker Cocke of Somerville; four nieces and one nephew.

Those honored to serve as casket bearers were Andy Hunsucker, Brian Hunsucker, Adam Hunsucker, Bobby Eddington, Clay Joyner and Al Tice.

Honorary casket bearers were Kenneth Earnest and Robin Hunsucker.

The family request that Memorials be directed to the Fayette County Chapter of the American Cancer Society.
