Cynthia La Nell (Trotter) Appling

Cynthia La Nell “Cyndi” Trotter Appling, resident of Marion, Arkansas, wife of Rick Appling and a native Fayette Countian departed this life Wednesday morning, March 20, 2013 at the Methodist University Hospital in Memphis where she had been a patient for one week. She was 52 years of age and died unexpectedly of natural causes.

Services of Remembrance for Mrs. Appling were conducted at 3 P.M. Friday, March 22nd at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Bro. Al Appling officiating. Interment followed in the Fayette County Memorial Park Cemetery on Highway 64. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center — West Chapel at Oakland.

Mrs. Appling was born June 7, 1960 in Somerville, the daughter of Lorene Gammel Trotter and the late Robert Kirkwood Trotter. She received her education in the Shelby County Public School System and was married July 3, 1978 to Rick Appling, retired trucking company employee, who survives.

Mrs. Appling had been a caregiver for much of her life and had been associated with healthcare organizations for over 25 years before her retirement three years ago. She was a Christian and had been a resident of Marion, Arkansas for the past 26 years. She was devoted to her family and received much pleasure in family times that included her grandchildren. “Couponing” was a favorite pastime.

In addition to her husband of 34 years, Mrs. Appling is survived by three sons, Carl Richard “Rick” Appling of Marion, AR, Brandon Shawn Appling of West Memphis, AR, Thomas Matthew Appling of El Paso, TX; her mother, Lorene Gammel Trotter of Memphis; her sister, Robin Michelle Trotter Rines of Lake Cormorant, MS; and five grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her brother, Robert Michael Trotter.

The family requests that memorials be directed to the church, charity or organization of the donor’s choice.
