DANNY MCCCLURE, a resident of the Somerville Community, lifelong Fayette Countian and husband of Brenda McClure died at 6:55 A.M. Saturday, February 28, 2009 at his residence on Old Jackson Road in Somerville. He was 61 years of age and died following an extended illness.
Funeral services for Mr. McClure were conducted at 10 A.M. Tuesday, March 3rd at the Oak Grove Baptist Church in the Moscow Community with Chaplain Richard Kilpatrick of the Caris Hospice Organization in Somerville, officiating. He was assisted by Rev. David Parlow, Pastor of the church. Interment followed in the Oak Grove Cemetery near Moscow. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Home-West Chapel of Oakland.
Mr. McClure was born October 16, 1947 in the Moscow Community the son of the late John McClure and the late Laura Mae Rigsby McClure. He was educated in the Fayette County Public School System and was a member of the Oak Grove Baptist Church.
He was employed as an equipment operator and paving company employee for much of his life. Mr. McClure was employed by the Lehman-Roberts Paving Company in Memphis, until retiring for health reasons.
He was married July 22, 1994 to the former Brenda Lee Hildreth, Office Employee for the Mapco Express Company in Memphis who survives.
Mr. McClure will be remembered for his love of outdoor activities that included fishing, turkey shoots and tractors. He was a family-oriented person who enjoyed people of all ages. He held a special closeness to his large, extended family in the Moscow Community.
In addition to his wife, Mr. McClure is survived by his daughter, Connie McClure Jackson of Moscow; two sons, Glen McClure (Sandy) of Olive Branch, MS and Tony McClure (Pamela) of Southaven, MS; four sisters: Sally Miller, Katie Byrd, Dolly Rhea and LaNell Rhea, all of Moscow; two brothers, James McClure and Joe McClure, both of Moscow; four grandchildren: Eric McClure, Chris Hobbs, Parker Jackson and Thomas Jackson and one great-granddaughter, Amaya Hobbs.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Carl McClure.
Those honored to serve as casket bearers were Jeff McClure, Keith McClure, Doug McClure, Mark McClure, "Bubba" Miller and Eric McClure.
Honorary casket bearers were Danny Rhea, Chris Hobbs and John Crisp.
