David Lee Bissett, Sr.

October 26, 1954 — July 10, 2013

David Lee “Dave” Bissett, Sr., resident of Bolivar, U.S. Veteran, retired long distance truck operator and husband of Shelia Lynn Smith Bissett departed this life Wednesday morning, July 10, 2013 at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Memphis where he had been a patient for one week. He was 59 years of age and died following a brief illness.

Family Services and interment for Mr. Bissett will be private and arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes and Cremation Center — Main Chapel of Somerville.

Mr. Bissett was born October 26, 1954 in Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania, the son of Hubert Bissett and the late Mary Louise Tennant Bissett. He received his education in the Pennsylvania Public School System. He served his country in the United States Navy as a young person and was married July 20, 1983 to the former Shelia Lynn Smith, who survives.

Mr. Bissett was employed as a long distance truck operator for the TLC Express Freight Lines for 31 years before his retirement six weeks ago for health reasons. He was a Christian and had been a resident of Hardeman County for the past eleven years. He enjoyed outdoor activities with his family. Nature, fishing and television sports were favorite pastimes. He was devoted to his family and will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed special times with those that he loved.

In addition to his wife of 30 years, Mr. Bissett is survived by his daughter, Heather Lynn Herman (Billy) of Saulsbury, TN; three sons, Cody Pierce Bissett (Kayla) of Bolivar, TN, David Lee Bissett, Jr. (Jessica) of Medon, TN, Jim Earnest (Courtney) of Jackson, TN; his father, Hubert Bissett of Pennsylvania; his sister, Pam of Georgia; his brother, Bobby Bissett of Pennsylvania; and three grandchildren, Dalton Bissett, Rylee Earnest and Kalin Earnest.

The family requests that memorials be directed to the church, charity or organization of the donor’s choice.
