DAVID CLAY BOWLING, a resident of Ripley, MS, and son of former Fayette County resident, Robert "Doc" Bowling, Sr., died at 11 A.M. Tuesday, September 23, 2008 at his residence in Ripley. He was 51 years of age and died following an extended illness.
Joint Funeral Services for Mr. Bowling were conducted with his father at 4 P.M. Thursday, September 25th at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville with the Rev. Dave Stewart, Pastor of the Schoolfied United Methodist Church in Memphis, officiating. Interment followed in the Shady Grove Cemetery at Williston. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes-Main Chapel of Somerville.
Mr. Bowling was born August 16, 1957 in Memphis the son of Robert "Doc" Bowling, Sr. who also died on the same day as his son, and the late Mary Lou Turner Bowling. He was educated in the Shelby County Public School System and had been a resident of Ripley, MS for the past fifteen years.
Mr. Bowling was a welder throughout his life and was employed by the Masterbilt Corporation in New Albany, MS, at the time of his death. He was a Methodist and will be remembered for his love of animals.
Survivors of Mr. Bowling include his brother, Robert E. Bowling, Jr. (Kathy) of Atoka; sister, Sharon Bowling Nelson (Charles) of Roswell, NM; one niece, one nephew and two great-nieces.
Those honored to serve as casketbearers were Jimmie Bowling, Millard Bowling, Will Bowling, Larry Mills, Perry Redfearn and Joe Yager.
