David Leon "Brother" Hill

February 26, 1942 — February 15, 2016

David Leon “Brother” Hill, age 73, resident of Collierville and husband of Mary Margaret Hopper Hill, departed this life Monday afternoon, February 15, 2016 following an extended illness.

Services and Interment for Mr. Hill were private. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center – West Chapel at Oakland.

Mr. Hill was born February 26, 1942 in Fayette County. He was a graduate of Collierville High School Class of 1960 and was a lifelong resident of the Rossville and Collierville areas. Mr. Hill was married July 31, 1970 to the former Mary Margaret Hopper. He owned a red bob truck that was used for hauling cottonseed and livestock before starting his homebuilding company. He was the owner of David Hill Construction before his retirement.

Mr. Hill’s jovial personality and “gift of gab” endeared him to make many friends easily. He loved to talk and his family states he never met a stranger. He had a special love for animals, especially beagles, and he enjoyed playing softball games with his family and friends. Mr. Hill will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather.

Mr. Hill is survived by his wife of 45 years, Mary Margaret Hopper Hill of Collierville; two sons, Michael Hill of Collierville, Brian Hill (Tanya) of Collierville; two sisters, Shirley Smith (Arnold) of Moscow, Bettye Bobbitt of Moscow; his brother, Mark Hill (Dorothy) of Trenton; and two granddaughters, Marissa Hill and Madaline Hill.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman Leon Hill and Annie Mae Pleasants Hill and two sisters, Cora Lewis and Kathy Hill.

The family requests that memorials be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association, 713 S. Mendenhall Road, Memphis, TN 38117 or to the donor’s choice of charities.
