David Earl Hood, age 79, of Long Beach, Mississippi, passed away Monday, August 14, 2023. He was born September 9, 1943 in Jacksonville, Florida and grew up living in Meridian, Mississippi. He moved to Long Beach, Mississippi in 1981 where he was the pharmacist for Big B Drugs, Walgreens and Long Beach Pharmacy.
Mr. Hood attended high school at Meridian High School and then went on to serve in the U.S. Navy as a corpsman. He attended Meridian Junior College and then graduated from The University of Mississippi School of Pharmacy in 1969.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Hood; his siblings, Dorothy Adams (Jack), Amelia Roach and Edwin Hood, Jr. He was also preceded in death by his son, Van Buren Martin Hood.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Lee Williamson Hood; his daughters, Marion Hood and Frances Burch (Lonnie); and two granddaughters, Shelby Burch and Olivia Hood. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, friends and family.
David was a loving husband, father, grandfather and uncle. He loved serving his community as a pharmacist in Long Beach. When he wasn't working, he enjoyed gardening and rooting for Ole Miss football.

Services were held at St. Peter's by the Sea Episcopal Church in Gulfport, Mississippi on Thursday, August 17, 2023 at 10:30 A.M. The burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery in Fayette County, Tennessee on Saturday, August 19, 2023 at 10 A.M.
