David Linn, age 79, resident of Oakland, Tennessee and husband of Barbara Linn, departed this life peacefully with his family at his side, Thursday evening, January 5, 2023.
David Linn was born in Fort Worth, Texas on August 15, 1943 to William and Vera Linn and grew up in the greater Dallas area. After graduating from Aurora University in Aurora, IL, he joined the Air Force. David met his wife, Barbara Carpenter Linn, while he was stationed at Port Austin Air Force Station in Michigan.
David and Barbara enjoyed military life and he served in Taiwan, Minnesota, New York, Guam, Arizona, Thailand, Nebraska and Louisiana. David left the Air Force in 1978 and began his career at Exxon Mobil where he was assigned positions in Arkansas, Tennessee and Texas until retirement in 2000. He moved back to Tennessee in 2006 to be near his grandchildren.
David leaves behind his loving wife of 54 years, Barbara, his children, Lori Strickland (Norris) and Mark Linn (Eileen) and two granddaughters, Jenna and Kate Strickland along with his sister, Patti Lee (Ken) and his brother, Kenneth Linn (Marie).
In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his daughter, Nola Ann and his sister, Nola Kay.
Funeral Services for Mr. Linn were held at 11 A.M. Friday, January 13, 2023 at the Church with Father Jim Martel officiating. Interment with Military Honors was at West Tennessee Veterans Cemetery in Memphis.
David and Barbara are members of St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church in Somerville, Tennessee where they have many friends and where he did volunteer work. He also volunteered at Fayette Cares.
