Debra Kay “Debbie” Byrd Overman, resident of the Toone Community in Hardeman County with extended family members in Fayette County died Friday morning, May 13, 2011 at the Jackson/Madison County General Hospital in Jackson, TN where she had been a patient for six weeks. She was 52 years of age and died following an illness of several months.
Services of Remembrance for Mrs. Overman were conducted at 2 P.M. Wednesday, May 25 th at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville with Rev. Timmy Bryant of the First United Pentecostal Church in Bolivar, officiating. A private interment will be in the Bethany Cemetery near Whiteville. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes—Main Chapel of Somerville.
A native of Hornsby, Tennessee, Mrs. Overman was born March 16, 1959 in Memphis, Tennessee. She was preceded in death by her mother, Maxine Foust Honeycutt and stepfather, Toby Honeycutt. Mrs. Overman was educated in the Rienzi, Mississippi Public School System and was a former resident of Alcorn County, Mississippi. She returned to West Tennessee a number of years ago and was a member of the First United Pentecostal Church in Bolivar. A homemaker throughout her life, Mrs. Overman interests included vegetable and flower gardening, sewing, babysitting, cooking, pets and a variety of music.
Mrs. Overman’s survivors include her three sons: Joseph Henley of Toone, Barry Ray Henley of Bolivar, William Theodore “Teddy” Henley of Bolivar; her sister: Dianne Grisham of Burnsville, Mississippi; her brothers: Steve Austin of Bolivar, Ricky Byrd of Little Rock, Arkansas, Billy Honeycutt of Rienzi, Mississippi and a special aunt: Brenda Kay McCaslin of Jackson, Tennessee.
The family requests that memorials be directed to the First United Pentecostal Church, 309 Edgewood Street, Bolivar, TN 38008.
