DELLA MAE MINOR BROWN

September 19, 1927 — July 15, 2009

DELLA MAE MINOR BROWN, resident of the Moscow Community and wife of the late Robert Lee Brown died at 1:50 P.M. Wednesday, July 15, 2009 at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Collierville where she had been a patient for six days. She was 81 years of age and died following an extended illness.

Funeral services for Mrs. Brown were conducted at 11 A.M. Friday, July 17th at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville with Rev. Greg Cook, Pastor of the Morris Memorial Baptist Church in Moscow, officiating. Interment followed in the Friendship Cemetery on Highway 57 near Moscow. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes-Main Chapel of Somerville.

Mrs. Brown was born September 19, 1927 in Potts Camp Mississippi. She was preceded in death by her parents, Solomon Minor and Gertrude Burchette Minor. She received her education in the Mississippi Public School System and was a former resident of Collierville before moving to the Moscow Community twenty-five years ago.

Mrs. Brown was a homemaker throughout much of her life and was a member of the Morris Memorial Baptist Church at Moscow.

She will be remembered for her great love of animals with a special closeness to her pet canine, "Rufus".

She enjoyed flowers and gardening and was known by family and friends for her "green thumb".

Survivors of Mrs. Brown include her daughter, Jody Allen (Richard) of Moscow; two sons, James May (Rosa) of Lawrenceville, GA and Robert Len Brown (Joyce) of Collierville; her brother, Jack Minor and wife Rosemarie of Moscow; twelve grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sons, Norman Mays and Charlie Mays.

Those honored to serve as casket bearers were Jake Allen, Tom Allen, William Allen, Philip Fisher, Bo Mays and "Bubba" Mays.
