DEWEY PERKINS, resident of Asbury Road near Somerville and a former longtime resident of Oxford, Mississippi died Friday, May 8, 2009, at his residence near Somerville. He was 72 years of age and died unexpectedly.
Born in Lafayette County, MS, Mr. Perkins had lived in Fort Worth, Texas before moving to Fayette County.
He was a retired Manufacturing Company Employee who enjoyed hunting, fishing and the outdoors.
Funeral Services were conducted Wednesday, May 13th in Oxford with Rev. Randy Hope, officiating. Interment followed in the Garden of Memories Cemetery at Oxford. Local arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes-Main Chapel of Somerville.
Survivors include three sons: Dewey Wayne Perkins of Haltamon City, TX; Charles David Perkins of Oxford, MS and Tracy Gene Perkins of Florence, AL; one daughter, Jammie Lynn Alexander of GA; one sister, Esther Jewel Roy of Abbeville, MS; one brother, Douglas Gene Perkins of GA; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
His parents, David Wesley and Sally Elizabeth Perkins; his companion, Lorene Duncan, and one grandchild, Lauren Nicole Perkins, preceded Mr. Perkins in death.
The family requests that memorials be directed to the church, charity or organization of the donor's choice.
