DOROTHY JEANETTE WILKINSON, a resident of the District 15 Community in Fayette County and wife of the late Dr. George Rea Walker, Sr. died at 10:45 A.M., Wednesday, August 12, 2009 at her residence. She was 68 years of age and died following an illness of several months.
Funeral services for Ms. Wilkinson were conducted at 10 A.M. Tuesday, August 18th at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville. Interment followed at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Greenville City Cemetery at Greenville, Mississippi. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes-Main Chapel of Somerville.
A native of Osceola, Arkansas, Ms. Wilkinson was preceded in death by her parents, Frank Jordan and Evelyn Emerson Jordan, early residents of the Osceola Community.
She was a former resident of Jackson, Mississippi and Greenville, Mississippi and had been a resident of Fayette County for the past twenty years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. George Rea Walker, Sr. of Greenville.
Ms. Wilkinson was a Presbyterian and will be remembered as a gracious southern lady who enjoyed nature and animals.
Survivors of Ms. Wilkinson include three daughters: Lisa Has Ellison of Dallas, TX; Laura Jones of Somerville and Molly Jones of Dallas, TX; her sister, Mary Evelyn O'Koren of Jackson, MS and two granddaughters, Adeline Jones and Mary Jones.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Carol Jones.
