Juanita Maness Harvey, longtime resident of the Somerville Community, wife of Charles E. Harvey and a person active for many years in the religious and community affairs of Fayette County died Sunday morning, December 5, 2010 at the National HealthCare Center in Somerville w
here she had been a resident since March of this year. She was 86 years of age and died following an extended illness.
Services of Remembrance for Mrs. Harvey were conducted at
11 AM Wednesday, December 8
th
at the Somerville First United Methodist Church with Rev. Larry Kendrick, pastor of the church
officiating.
Interment followed in the Somerville City Cemetery.
Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes—Main Chapel of Somerville.
Mrs. Harvey was born in Henderson, Tennessee on June 6, 1924. She was the daughter of the late David Alexander Maness and the late Pearl Samson Maness. Mrs. Harvey was educated in the Chester County Public School System and graduated from the Chester County High School in Henderson, class of 1941. She was married on October 14, 1951 to Charles Edward Harvey, retired Fayette County farmer and landowner, who survives.
A resident of Fayette County for over sixty years, Mrs. Harvey was a devoted member of the Somerville First United Methodist Church and active in numerous religious, community and civic activities as long as health permitted. Known for her expertise in growing roses, Mrs. Harvey enjoyed sharing her beautiful roses with others, often gracing the tables of many church and social functions in the area. She was a long time supporter and advocate of the Arlington Developmental Center where she provided love, care and concern for her daughter and other residents of the center.
Mr. and Mrs. Harvey were charter members of the Fayette County Historical Society and she was associated with her husband for many years in the operation of the Harvey Family Farm in Fayette County until her recent illness. Mrs. Harvey will be remembered for her pleasant personality and genuine concern for all that she came in contact with.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Harvey is survived by her daughter, Charlotte Harvey of Arlington, her son and his wife, Ed and Victoria Harvey of Franklin, Tennessee and a number of nieces and nephews.
