Dolly Adine Henley Dunavant, resident of Memphis, retired from Methodist Central Hospital in Memphis and wife of the late Robert L. Dunavant, departed this life on her 88th birthday on Saturday morning, April 11, 2015 at the Applingwood Healthcare Center in Cordova following an extended illness.
Services of Remembrance for Mrs. Dunavant were conducted at 2 P.M. Wednesday, April 15th at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville with Bro. Don Green, pastor of the East Frayser Church of Christ in Memphis, officiating. Interment followed in the Somerville City Cemetery. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center - Main Chapel of Somerville.
Mrs. Dunavant was born April 11, 1927 in the Laconia Community of Fayette County. She was preceded in death by her parents, Elijah Newsom Henley and Evie Lena (Montague) Henley. She was a graduate of Fayette County High School and Freed-Hardeman College. After graduation, she moved to Memphis and worked for many years at Continental Rubber Works and then at Methodist Central Hospital radiology department until her retirement in 1990. Dolly’s main loves were her faith and her family. Mrs. Dunavant was a devout member of East Frayser Church of Christ and she enjoyed traveling with her church family, gardening and sewing.
Mrs. Dunavant was blessed with numerous nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert (Bob), her brothers, John Pelemond (JP) and Charles, and her sister, Evie Mae Baggett.
The family requests that memorials be directed to the East Frayser Church of Christ, 4210 Altruria Road, #116, Memphis, Tennessee 38135.
