Doloris (Sigler) Feathers

February 11, 1933 — October 13, 2013

Doloris Sigler Feathers, resident of the Big Buck Community in Hardeman County and wife of the late Bobby Feathers departed this life Sunday morning, October 13, 2013 at her residence. She was 80 years of age and died unexpectedly of natural causes.

Services of Remembrance for Mrs. Feathers were conducted at 2 P.M. Thursday, October 17th at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville with David Looney, pastor of the Bolivar Church of Christ officiating. Interment followed in the Oakland Town Cemetery. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes and Cremation Center — Main Chapel of Somerville.

Mrs. Feathers was born February 11, 1933 in the Lucy Community of Shelby County. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert E. Sigler, Sr. and Effie Cozart Sigler. She moved to Fayette County with her family at an early age, receiving her education in the Fayette County Public School System and was a graduate of the Fayette County High School in Somerville. She was married September 18, 1953 to Bobby Cyle Feathers, Sr., a native of Fayette County who was a retired dispatcher for the Illinois Central Railroad Company in Memphis, who preceded her in death on October 8, 2011.

Mr. and Mrs. Feathers were residents of Memphis for a number of years before retiring and moving to the Big Buck Community near Hornsby, Tennessee, where they had lived for the past 20 years. She was an active member of the Bolivar Church of Christ and loved her church family. She was a homemaker, enjoyed cooking and baking for any occasion and will be remembered as a family-oriented person who lived her life filled with gratitude for her many blessings.

Because of her limited vision in recent years, she received much pleasure daily from her large library of Bible tapes. She enjoyed antiques throughout her adult life and as a young person, horseback riding and swimming were favorite pastimes. Her neighbors and Big Buck Community friends made life pleasant for her in later years.

Mrs. Feathers is survived by two daughters, Ann Ricker (Steve) of Smyrna, TN, Lynn Smith (Stephen) of Phenix City, AL; her son, Bobby Feathers, Jr. (Lynne) of Somerville; four special grandchildren, Heather Jolly, Clifford Smith, Stacy Peeler, Danielle Ricker; and five beloved great grandchildren.

Those honored to serve as casketbearers were Clifford Smith, Michael Jolly, Curt Peeler, Gary Byars, Jerry Mitchell and Bob Sigler.
Honorary casketbearers were Carly Smith, Taylor Jolly, Cole Jolly, Christopher Peeler and Savannah Lynn Jolly.

The family requests that memorials be directed to the Muscular Dystrophy Association, 3149 Players Club Parkway, Memphis, TN 38125 or the Bolivar Church of Christ, 1018 W. Market Street, Bolivar, TN 38008.
