Donald Ray Farmer, age 88, resident of Somerville, Tennessee and husband of the late Elizabeth Davis Farmer, departed this life Friday morning, January 31, 2025 at St. Francis Hospital in Bartlett, Tennessee.
Donald was born March 23 ,1936 in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, the son of the late Francis Farmer and Minnie Pearl Patrick Farmer. He was sent to Boys Town at the age of 12 and remained there until the age of 18 when he joined the United States Navy where he served from 1956 until 1960. Donald was employed in the sales department at Industrial Coating for over 40 years before his retirement. He was a capable handyman who built his home in Somerville himself and enjoyed the outdoors and hunting.
Mr. Farmer is survived by his son, Christopher Ray Farmer. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Antoinette Hammon.
Services for Mr. Farmer will be held at a later date. Interment will be in the West Tennessee Veterans Cemetery in Memphis.
