Don Goforth
1960—2011
Donald Edward Goforth, resident of Memphis and native of Fayette County departed this life Sunday morning, January 23, 2011 at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis where he had been a patient for two days. He was 51 years of age and died following a brief illness.
Services of Remembrance for Mr. Goforth were conducted at 2 P.M. Wednesday, January 26
th
at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Rev. Loyd Shelton of Rossville, officiating. Interment was private and arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes—West Chapel of Oakland.
Mr. Goforth was born January 23, 1960 in Somerville, His parents Pearline Wright Goforth and Robert Goforth preceded him in death. He was educated in the Fayette County Public School System and was married May 28, 1983 to the former Linda Watson, a native of Fayette County, who survives.
Mr. Goforth was of the Baptist faith and was employed as a security officer for J. Pickett Enterprises in Memphis for 27 years. He was a lifelong resident of Fayette and Shelby Counties and his interests included fishing, nature and spectator wrestling. Mr. Goforth was a family oriented person who received much enjoyment from special times with his grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Goforth is survived by his daughter: Loretta Trejo (Fransisco) of Cordova; his sons: Robert Goforth of Millington, Mark Goforth of Memphis, Michael Goforth of Millington; his sisters: Carolyn Watson of Somerville, Dorothy Vaughn of Memphis, Brenda Smith of Lakeland; his brothers: Robert Goforth of Whiteville, Ken Goforth of Olive Branch and ten grandchildren.
The family requests that memorials be directed to the church, charity or organization of the donor’s choice.
