Donald Ford “Don” Lee, Sr., resident of Germantown, United States Veteran and retired banker, departed this life Tuesday evening, April 29, 2014 at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis where he had been a patient for six days. He was 77 years of age and died unexpectedly of natural causes.
Services of Remembrance for Mr. Lee were conducted at 2 P.M. Saturday, May 3rd at the St. Philip Episcopal Church in Lakeland with Father Terry Street, pastor of the church, officiating. Special Music was coordinated by Lisa Fairchild. Interment with Military Honors followed in the St. Philip Episcopal Church Cemetery. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes and Cremation Center — Main Chapel of Somerville.
Mr. Lee was born October 9, 1936 in Durant, Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry Otto Lee and Beatrice Abts Lee. He received his education in the Durant, Oklahoma Public School System and continued his education at Oklahoma State University where he received a Bachelor of Science Degree in finance.
Mr. Lee served in the United States Air Force as a young person and had been a resident of Germantown for the past 37 years. He was employed as a bank manager for First American Bank (formerly Memphis Bank & Trust Company) for 35 years before his retirement in 1997. Mr. Lee was of the Baptist faith and will be remembered as an avid lover of animals. He enjoyed photography as a hobby.
Mr. Lee is survived by his daughter, Christie Miner (Scott) of Germantown; his son, Skip Lee of Cary, NC; and six grandchildren, Carson Lee, Jason Miner, Sydney Miner, Meredith Lee, Abbey Miner and Luke Miner.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Richard Lee.
Casketbearers were family members and friends and the family requests that memorials be directed to St. Philip Episcopal Church, 9380 Davies Plantation Road, Memphis, TN 38133.
