Donnie Lee Stainback

Donnie Lee Stainback, resident of the Oakland Community and husband of Betty Stainback, departed this life Tuesday evening, December 31, 2013 at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis. He was 63 years of age and died following an extended illness.

Services of Remembrance for Mr. Stainback were conducted at 11 A.M. Saturday, January 4, 2014 at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Bro. Rodney Van Winkle, pastor of the Faith Church of God in Somerville, officiating. Interment followed in the Fayette County Memorial Park Cemetery on Highway 64. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center — West Chapel at Oakland.

Mr. Stainback was born January 11, 1950 in Somerville. He was preceded in death by his parents, James William Stainback and the former Hessie Russell. He received his education in the Memphis City Public School System and had been a resident of the Oakland Community since 1999. Mr. Stainback was a Christian and was married June 11, 1997 to the former Betty Sue Cooper, who survives.

Mr. Stainback was employed by the Conwood Company in Memphis for over 27 years before retiring in 2005. He enjoyed outdoor activities that included hunting and fishing and repairing older vehicles. Family times were an important part of his life.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Stainback is survived by three daughters, Barbra Burford (Kevin) of Olive Branch, MS, Jennifer Heldenbrand (Jade) of Charleston, SC, Kimberly Allison (Kerry) of Arlington, TN; two sons, Lonnie Stainback (Amy) of Nesbit, MS, Todd Wenzl (Julie) of West Mansfield, OH; two sisters, Lucy Marie Doyle (Robert) of Bartlett, Patricia Martin of Bartlett; his brother, Travis Stainback (Vicky) of Sardis, MS; and eight grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Stainback was preceded in death by his son, Robert Wenzl; two sisters, Brenda Thomas, Joyce Vaughn; and two brothers, Mitchel Stainback and Thomas Stainback.

Those honored to serve as casketbearers were Mark Bass, Harold Swanson, William Singletary, Lonnie Stainback, Cameron Allison and William Thomas.
Honorary casketbearers included Robert Doyle.
