DORIS "DOT" MORRISSON KEITH

DORIS MORRISSON "DOT" KEITH, lifelong resident of the Hickory Withe Community, wife of Wallace Keith and a person involved throughout her life in the religious, civic and business affairs of her community died Thursday morning, December 17, 2009 at the Good Shepherd Medical Center in Longview, Texas. She was 74 years of age and died unexpectedly during her return trip from her granddaughter's graduation in Texas.

Funeral services for Mrs. Keith were conducted at 11 A.M. Monday, December 21st at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Rev. Ed Eubanks, Jr., Pastor of the Hickory Withe Presbyterian Church, officiating. Interment followed in the Arlington Cemetery at Arlington, Tennessee. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes-West Chapel of Oakland.

Mrs. Keith was born on March 27, 1935 in Hickory Withe. She was preceded in death by her parents, Hartwell W. Morrisson and Alma Riggins Morrisson, early residents of the Hickory Withe Community.

She was educated in the Fayette County Public School System at Hickory Withe and was a graduate of the Fayette County High School in Somerville.

She was married May 16, 1952 to Frank Wallace Keith, who survives.

A proud wife, mother and homemaker, she also served as Executive Officer of Keith's Farms at Hickory Withe.

She was a lifetime resident of the Hickory Withe Community and a longtime member of the Hickory Withe Presbyterian Church where she participated in numerous church activities that included serving as Church Pianist for over fifty years.

A person with many interests, Mrs. Keith enjoyed square dancing and traveling with her husband in their recreational vehicle throughout the United States and Canada. She received much enjoyment from playing the piano for the residents of assisted living facilities and nursing homes in Somerville and Memphis.

In addition to her husband of fifty-seven years, survivors of Mrs. Keith include three sons: Mike Keith (Willene) of Bucksnort, TN; Chuck Keith (Brenda) of Nesbit, MS and Don Keith (Debbie) of Hickory Withe; five grandchildren: Winnie Powers, Alan Keith, Michael Keith, Lauren Keith and Tyler Keith and one great-granddaughter, Kylee Keith.

Those honored to serve as casket bearers were Jeff Anthony, Frank Bowman, Darrell Howard, Charlie Russell and Harry McClellan.
