Dorothy (Dell) Gill

Dorothy Dell Gill, age 81, resident of Atwood, Tennessee and wife of the late Charles Gill, departed this life Friday afternoon, February 6, 2015 at the Alamo Nursing Home in Alamo, Tennessee.

Services of Remembrance for Mrs. Gill were conducted at 12 Noon Wednesday, February 11th at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Rev. Allen Goolsby, Avalon Hospice Chaplain, officiating. Graveside Services were conducted at 1:45 P.M. Wednesday, February 11th at the West Tennessee Veterans Cemetery in Memphis. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center - West Chapel at Oakland.

Mrs. Gill was born June 24, 1933 in Bells, Tennessee. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dewey Hopson Dell and Alta Hopper Dell. She received her education in the Crockett County, Tennessee Public School System and was the wife of Charles Gill, who preceded her in death. She was of the Church of Christ faith and enjoyed fishing. She moved to Memphis at the age of 16 and was a homemaker throughout her life.

Mrs. Gill is survived by her sister, Betty Doolin of Southaven, Mississippi; her brother, Dewey Overton of Oakland, Tennessee; two grandchildren, Tamara Ortega of Robertsdale, Alabama, Charles Puckett of Memphis; four great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Connie Early.
