Dorothy Mae (Pittman) Holden

April 26, 1960 — August 5, 2012

Dorothy Mae Pittman Holden, lifelong resident of the Somerville and Whiteville Communities and wife of Wayne Holden died Sunday afternoon, August 5, 2012 at the Jackson-Madison County General Hospital in Jackson, Tennessee where she had been a patient for four days. She was 52 years of age and died following an extended illness.

The family would like to invite all of Mrs. Holden’s family and friends to attend the Service of Remembrance for Mrs. Holden which will be conducted at 3 P.M. Sunday, August 26th at the Midway Baptist Church near Whiteville with Bro. David Reeves of the church officiating. Interment will be private and arrangements will be provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes and Cremation Center — Main Chapel of Somerville.

Mrs. Holden was born April 26, 1960 in Somerville, the daughter of Louise Thompson Pittman and the late James Pittman. She received her education in the Fayette County Public School System and lived in the Somerville and Whiteville areas all of her life. She was married on February 14, 1986 to Wayne Holden, employee of the Calvin Ozier Earthmoving Company in Somerville, who survives. Mrs. Holden was a homemaker throughout her life and was a member of the Morris Chapel Baptist Church at Somerville.

Her interests included music, food preparation for her family, yard sales and movies. She was a family-oriented person who enjoyed special times with those closest to her.

In addition to her husband of 26 years, Mrs. Holden is survived by four daughters, Tessa Bull of Brownsville, Dana Taylor of Somerville, Penny Fincher of Dancyville, Christy Holley of Laconia; two sons, Christopher Kee of Olive Branch, MS, Jason Kee of Oakland; her mother, Louise Pittman of Laconia; two sisters, Margaret Jackson of Laconia, Linda Goodman of the Hillville Community; three brothers, Wayne Pittman of Laconia, Johnny Pittman of Laconia, Carl Pittman of Laconia; 22 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

The family requests that memorials be directed to the Breast Cancer Fund, 1388 Sutter Street, Suite 400, San Francisco, California 94109-5400 or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105.
