Dorothy "Dot" Adelia (Parrott) Reeves

Dorothy Adelia “Dot” Parrott Reeves, lifelong resident of the Somerville Community and wife of the late Milton Reeves departed this life Friday afternoon, November 22, 2013 at the Laurelwood HealthCare Center in Jackson, Tennessee where shehad resided for one year and seven months. She was 92 years of age and died following an extended illness.

Services of Remembrance at the Graveside for Mrs. Reeves were conducted at 10 A.M. Tuesday, November 26th with Bro. David Reeves, pastor of the Midway Baptist Church in Whiteville, officiating. Interment followed in the Evergreen Cemetery at Williston. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes and Cremation Center — Main Chapel of Somerville.

Mrs. Reeves was born September 1, 1921 in Fayette County. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clyde Parrott and Nonnie Lois Guy Parrott, early residents of the Somerville/Williston Communities. She received her education in the Fayette County Public School System and was a graduate of the Fayette County High School. She was the wife of Milton Reeves, who preceded her in death on October 13, 1994.

Mrs. Reeves was of the Methodist faith and a longtime resident of the Teague Store Road area in Fayette County. She was a devoted homemaker and was employed as an inspector of men’s clothing by the Salant & Salant Manufacturing Company in Somerville for over 20 years before her retirement. She enjoyed outdoor activities and will be remembered as an accomplished seamstress. She took much pride in caring for her home and was devoted to her family.

Mrs. Reeves is survived by her daughter, Pat Reeves Smith of Somerville; her grandson, Kirk Smith; and two great grandsons, Cory Smith and Jeremy Smith. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Thelma Rogers, Nonnie Lois Reeves, Inez Symonds and two brothers, Emil Parrott and Carl Parrott.
