Dorothy Jean (Jones) Rowland

Dorothy Jean Jones Rowland, age 76, resident of Oxford, Mississippi, departed this life Monday evening, April 25, 2016 at the Oxford Health and Rehab Center.

Services of Remembrance for Mrs. Rowland were conducted at 2 P.M. Friday, April 29, 2016 at the Somerville First Baptist Church with Bro. Howard Jones officiating. Interment followed in the Somerville City Cemetery. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center - Main Chapel of Somerville.

Mrs. Rowland was born March 11, 1940 in Calhoun City, Mississippi. She received her education in the Calhoun County, Mississippi Public School System and was a lifelong resident of the North Mississippi and West Tennessee areas. Mrs. Rowland was of the Pentecostal faith and a homemaker throughout her life. She enjoyed decorating, playing bingo and collecting figurines and stuffed animals.

Mrs. Rowland is survived by three sons, Bobby Rowland and his wife, Connie, of Batesville, MS, Robbie Rowland and his wife, Nancy, of Hernando, MS, Raymond Rowland of Batesville, MS; five sisters, Bertha Moore and her husband, H.L., of Batesville, MS, Shirley Bryant and her husband, James, of Stanton, TN, Beverly Moore of Batesville, MS, Mary Bizzell and her husband, Robert, of Middleton, TN, Margaret McClain and her husband, Bob, of Mathiston, MS; three brothers, Jimmy Jones of Somerville, Howard Jones and his wife Gladys, of Walnut, MS, Billy Jones of Memphis; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lois Edward Jones and Inez Pinion Jones; her sister, Carol Crouch; and three brothers, Herman Jones, John Jones and Jack Jones.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers were Terry Jones, Dewayne Jones, Chris Rose, Cody Nickel, Pedro Garcia and Brad Ward.

The family requests that memorials be directed to the Somerville First Baptist Church, 12685 S. Main Street, Somerville, Tennessee 38068.
