Dorothy Jean “Dot” Gorman Hager, age 84, resident of the Hickory Withe Community and wife of Charles Wayne Hager, died Sunday evening, August 13, 2017 at her residence.
Memorial Services for Mrs. Hager were conducted at 1 P.M. Friday, August 18, 2017 at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Bro. Eddie Little, pastor of the First Baptist Church Hickory Withe, officiating. Interment was private. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes 7 Cremation Center – West Chapel at Oakland.
Mrs. Hager was born July 22, 1933 in Forrest City, Arkansas. She received her education at Humes High School in Memphis and was married June 31, 1951 to Charles Wayne Hager. She was employed as the office manager for Dr. Tom Stanley before her retirement and attended First Baptist Church Hickory Withe. Mrs. Hager enjoyed camping, fishing, dancing, entertaining, preparing food, traveling and spending time with people in local care facilities.
Mrs. Hager is survived by her husband of 66 years, Charles Wayne Hager of Hickory Withe, TN; two sons, David Paul Hager of Hickory Withe, TN, Mark Alan Hager (Karen Lynn) of Memphis, TN; two grandchildren, Sarah Elizabeth Hager of Lewisburg, MS, Heather Ann Campbell of Memphis, TN; and her sister-in-law, Bernice Gorman.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Eddie Martin Gorman and Ethel Mae Baker Gorman; her son, Eddie Wayne Hager who died in June of 1997; and two brothers, Roy Gorman and Troy Gorman.
The family requests that memorials be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association, 713 S. Mendenhall Road, Memphis, TN 38117.
