Douglas Andrews Goode, Sr.

October 10, 1928 — November 25, 2017

Douglas Andrews Goode, Sr., age 89, resident of Memphis, Tennessee, departed this life Saturday afternoon, November 25, 2017 at the Tennessee State Veterans Home in Humboldt, Tennessee.

Services of Remembrance for Mr. Goode were conducted at 11 A.M. Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland. Special remarks were given by Dr. Nadia Hensley and Tommy Sadler. Interment followed in the Fayette County Memorial Park Cemetery on Highway 64. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center - West Chapel at Oakland.

Mr. Goode was one of seven children, born October 10, 1928, in the Warren Community of Fayette County. He received his education in the Fayette County Public School System and served his country in the United States Armed Forces. He was employed with Ford Motor Company for 32 years before his retirement. Mr. Goode enjoyed farming, University of Tennessee football, fishing, hunting with his sons and grandsons and adored his dog, JO.

Mr. Goode is survived by his daughter, Michelle Sadler (Tommy) of Jackson, TN; two sons, Douglas A. Goode, Jr. (Debbie) of Memphis, TN, Karl Goode of Memphis, TN; nine grandchildren, Melody, Bryan, Nadia, Nicki, Brittany, Kristie, Chris, Darron, Dustin; many great-grandchildren; and the beloved mother of his children, Nita Goode of Memphis, TN.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Ollie Goode and Lula Madge Montague Goode; his daughter, Beverly Blakemore; and his son, Michael Goode.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers were Darron Goode, Dustin Goode, Matt McCaleb, Rich Bartkowiak, Tommy Sadler and Wendell Holley.

The family requests that memorials be directed to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, 3 International Drive, Suite 300, Rye Brook, NY 10573.

The laughs and jokes will remain forever in our hearts. Thank you for all the Goode times. We love you.
