Doyle Bryan Ballard, Sr., resident of Oakland and husband of Gloria Kiger Ballard, died Friday evening August 25, 2017 at his residence.
Services of Remembrance for Mr. Ballard were conducted at 11 A.M. Friday, September 1, 2017 at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland. Personal remarks were given by Jonah Thompson and Doug Goin. Interment was private. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center - West Chapel at Oakland.
Doyle grew up in Tipton County and attended Munford High School. He worked as a senior maintenance tech for FedEx Corp. Mr. Ballard was an avid outdoorsman. He loved deer hunting and was a competitive bass fisherman. He was known by his fishing buddies as the Bass Master. He enjoyed spending time with his family, was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and was known by his grandchildren as G Daddy. He loved to grill outdoors, was a kid at heart and loved his dogs, Gracie and Sally Mae.
Mr. Ballard is survived by his wife, Gloria Kiger Ballard of Oakland, Tennessee since April 21, 2000. He is survived by two daughters, Amy (Scott) Aaron of Cordova, TN, Lisa Mayo (Jason) of Germantown, TN; two sons, Doyle Bryan Ballard, Jr. (Candi) of Barlett, TN, Christopher St. John of Portland, OR; four sisters, Sylvia Crewse, Brenda Wakefield, Norma Mills, Kay McClung; his brother, Verble Ballard; and eleven grandchildren, Devin St. John, Lizzie Mayo, Davis Mayo, Sarah Mayo, Alison Tucker, Jacob Ballard, Audrey Aaron, Connor Aaron, Ava Goin, Bryce Goin and Liam Goin.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Hubert Verble Ballard and Lee Inez Ferrell Ballard; his daughter, Sunni Lee Ballard; his sister, Paulette Wilson; and his brother, Freddie Ballard.
The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorials be directed to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Department 142, Memphis, TN 38148-0142.
