Doyle Laird

Doyle Laird, age 69, resident of Somerville, Tennessee and husband of Mary Jewell Laird, departed this life Thursday, February 15, 2018 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis.

A Celebration of Life Service for Mr. Laird was held at 1:30 P.M. Wednesday, February 28, 2018 at the St. Thomas the Episcopal Church in Somerville. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center - Main Chapel of Somerville.

Mr. Laird was born January 8, 1949 in Birmingham, Alabama, the son of Burt Laird and Hazel Hunter Laird. He was a graduate of Cordova High School and ITT Technical Institute. He was a former resident of Wetumpka, Alabama and was employed at Williams Telecommunications in Montgomery, Alabama before his retirement. Mr. Laird was married January 21, 1980 to the former Mary Jewell and they were most recently residents of Somerville. He was a member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Somerville and he enjoyed plastic model trains, reading and gardening.

Mr. Laird is survived by his wife of 38 years, Mary Jewell Laird of Somerville, TN; two daughters, Courtney Laird Browning (J.R.) of Lakeland, TN, Chrisann Sky (Troy Schokolofsky) of Sonora, CA; his son, John Simon of Cordova, TN; his sister, Carolyn Kitzman of Orlando, FL; and three grandchildren, Pierce Browning, Augustus Browning and Aeryn Browning.
