DR. JOHN EDWARD MCINTOSH

July 4, 1936 — August 6, 2008

DR. JOHN EDWARD MCINTOSH, a resident of the Oakland Community, Psychiatrist and husband of Sugi McIntosh, died Wednesday, August 6, 2008 at the Methodist Hospital of Germantown where he had been a patient for five days. He was 72 years of age and died following a four-month illness.

Funeral services for Dr. McIntosh were conducted at 2 P.M. Monday, August 11th at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with the Rev. John Michael Krech, Pastor of the Somerville First Presbyterian Church, officiating. Interment followed in the Fayette County Memorial Park Cemetery on Highway 64. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes-West Chapel of Oakland.

Dr. McIntosh was born July 4, 1936, in Mt. Carmel, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Jackson McIntosh and Margaret Smith McIntosh. He was a graduate of the University of Tennessee Medical Units in Memphis and served as a Physician and Psychiatrist throughout his life. He was a former resident of Arizona before returning to Memphis in 1984 to be associated with the Memphis Veteran's Hospital and at the time of his death was serving as a Psychiatrist and Medical Director for the Raleigh Professional Associates in Memphis.

He was married September 6, 1995 to the former Sugi Choe who survives. Dr. McIntosh will be remembered as an avid traveler who had a deep concern for others including the many patients that he had served throughout his years of medical practice. He was of the Presbyterian Faith.

In addition to his wife Dr. McIntosh is survived by two daughters, Linda Ann McIntosh of Sylva, NC and Marianne McIntosh Mullins of Spring, TX; his son, John Todd McIntosh of Phoenix, AZ; two sisters, Nancy Thornborrow of Piedmont, CA and Molly McIntosh of Nashville, TN; five grandchildren and one great-grandson.
