Dr. Timothy Lee (Tim) Kemp, resident of the Hickory Withe Community, retired U.S. Air Force Lieutenant Colonel, physician and husband of Nancy Wallace Kemp died Tuesday morning, December 4, 2012 at his residence. He was 57 years of age and died following an illness of two years.

Services of Remembrance with Full Military Honors for Dr. Kemp were conducted at 2 P.M. Monday, December 10th at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Pastor Keith Blessing of the New Life Church in Hickory Withe officiating. Interment was private. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center — West Chapel at Oakland.

Dr. Kemp was born April 7, 1955 in Corpus Christi, Texas, the son of Dean Williams Kemp and the late Elmo Kemp. Dr. Kemp participated during Operation Iraqi Freedom and continued serving his country in the U.S. Air National Guard. Dr. Kemp was employed by Team Health as a physician at the Baptist Memorial Hospital Emergency Room in Collierville.

He was married May 23, 1981 to the former Nancy Wallace, who survives. Dr. and Mrs. Kemp were former residents of Cordova before moving to the Hickory Withe Community 11 years ago and was an active member of the New Life Church in Hickory Withe. Favorite pastimes included motorcycling, hunting and shooting guns.

In addition to his wife of 31 years, Dr. Kemp is survived by two daughters, Laura Kemp Love (Brett) of Dali, China, Bethany Anne Kemp of Minneapolis, MN; his son, Taylor Makalous Kemp of Hickory Withe; his mother, Dean Williams Kemp of Hillsboro, TX; his sister, Vikki Roberson of Hillsboro, TX; his brother, Terry Kemp of Plano, TX; and three grandchildren, Ellen Joy Love, Katherine Grace Love and Caleb Carter Love.

Honorary pallbearers were Taylor Kemp, Terry Kemp, Rod Piper, Don Alder, Lieutenant Colonel Scott Rice, Dr. Wesley Dykes, Dr. Kelly Green, Larry Shook, Paul Renfroe and Grady Sanborn.

The family requests that memorials be directed to the Lar Foundation, P.O. Box 1477, Cordova, TN 38088 to support the children’s home in Brazil.
