HIRAM EDWARD CALHOUN, a resident of the Hickory Withe Community and retired Long-Distance Truck Operator died Friday, January 29, 2010 at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis. He was 59 years of age and died following an extended illness.
Funeral services for Mr. Calhoun were conducted at 3 P.M. Sunday, January 31st at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Remarks and Reflections given by Mr. Calhoun's brothers, Robert and Art Calhoun. Due to weather conditions, interment was completed at 1 p.m. Wednesday, February 3rd in the Fayette County Memorial Park Cemetery on Highway 64. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes-West Chapel of Oakland.
Mr. Calhoun was born February 3, 1950 in Takoma Park, Maryland. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Neal Calhoun and Dortha Jeanette Pangborn Calhoun.
After completing high school he lived in various locations of the United States while being employed as a Long-Distance Truck Operator before his retirement.
Mr. Calhoun was a Christian and had been a resident of the Hickory Withe Community for the past eight years.
He enjoyed automobiles with a special passion for his Corvette in which he took much pride and pleasure in driving and maintaining.
Survivors of Mr. Calhoun include his brothers, Robert Neal Calhoun, Jr. (Mary) of Salem, West Virginia and Dr. Arthur L. Calhoun (Bernie) of Smithburg, West Virginia.
The family requests that memorials be directed to the church, charity or organization of the donor's choice.
