Edith Rose Scott, age 75, affectionately known as “Rose”, resident of Millington and retired medical laboratory technologist, departed this life Sunday morning, May 24, 2015 at the Methodist University Hospital in Memphis.
Services and Interment for Mrs. Scott were private. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center - West Chapel at Oakland.
Mrs. Scott was born March 22, 1940 in Demopolis, Alabama. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles William Richards, Jr. and Myrtis Lucille Gaston Richards. She received her education at Winfield High School, where she graduated in 1958. She attended Howard College and Hawkins Medical, where she received her Medical Technology Registry in 1960. Mrs. Scott was employed as a medical laboratory technologist for many years before her retirement. Mrs. Scott enjoyed gardening, driving her car, traveling and special times with her family members and friends.
Mrs. Scott is survived by her daughter, Marilyn L. Scott-Austin (Thomas) of Oakland; her son, Carl R. Scott of Millington; her brother, Charles William Richards III; four grandchildren, Jessica, Christopher, Breanna, Tom; and three great grandchildren, Clara, Morgan and Odin. Rose also cherished her memories with her best friend, Betty, of Atoka, Tennessee.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Dr. Mary Lucille Richards Moore and her infant brother, Joseph Thomas Richards.
The family requests that memorials be directed to the Midway School Historical Association in Memory of Rose Richards, daughter of Myrtis Gaston-Richards, c/o Karen A. Marble, 112 11th Avenue, Alexander City, AL 35010.
