Edna Josephine Sweeton

Edna Josephine Sweeton, a resident of Bolivar and a lifelong resident of Fayette and Hardeman Counties departed this life Monday morning, March 11, 2013 at the Pine Meadows Health Care Center in Bolivar. She was 91 years of age and died following an extended illness.

Services of Remembrance for Ms. Sweeton were conducted at 2 P.M. Wednesday, March 13th at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville with Bro. Kevin Treadway of Somerville officiating. Interment followed in the Liberty Cemetery in the Laconia Community. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes and Cremation Center — Main Chapel of Somerville.

Ms. Sweeton was born March 26, 1921 in the Gallaway Community of Fayette County. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles E. Sweeton and Margaret Helen Bishop Sweeton. She received her education in the Fayette County Public School System and was a homemaker throughout her life. She resided in the Somerville and Bolivar areas for many years and was a Christian.

She will be remembered as a person who had a lifelong love of reading and sewing for herself and for others. She looked forward to her flower and vegetable gardening each year and will be remembered as a person who made few demands of others, always placing the interests of her family and friends first.

Ms. Sweeton is survived by her sister, Martha Frances Anthony of Bolivar; and a number of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Margie Charlene Sweeton and Mildred Manley, both of Somerville; and her brother, Johnny Sweeton of the Laconia Community.

Casketbearers were family members and friends and the family requests that memorials be directed to the Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery Association, c/o Reba Dowdy, 900 Railroad Drive, Somerville, TN 38068 or to the charity or organization of the donor’s choice.
