EDWIN GLENN PRATHER, a resident of the Somerville Community, retired Farmer and husband of Helen Jane Prather died Monday evening, March 15, 2010 at the Methodist Healthcare-Fayette Hospital in Somerville where he had been a patient for one week. He was 95 years of age and died following a brief illness.
Services for Mr. Prather were conducted at 10 A.M. Saturday, March 20th in Mound City, Missouri. Interment followed in the Mount Hope Cemetery at Mound City, and arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes-Main Chapel of Somerville.
Mr. Prather was born in Maitland, Missouri on June 27, 1914 to Thomas Henry Prather and Cora Griffith Prather, who have both preceded him in death.
He attended schools in the Holt County, Missouri Public School District and was married June 29, 1940 to the former Helen Jane Hinkle, who survives.
He was a member of the Church of the Brethren in Holt County, Missouri, where he had also been a lifelong resident.
Mr. Prather was a longtime Farmer and Landowner before his retirement twenty years ago, and he had moved to the Somerville Community within the past year to be near family members.
He enjoyed hunting and nature as long as health permitted.
In addition to his wife of sixty-nine years, survivors of Mr. Prather include a son, Paul K. Prather, Sr. (Nadene) of Somerville, eleven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
The family requests that memorials be directed to the Crossroads Baptist Church, 1204 Houston Levee Rd., Suite 105, Cordova, TN, 38018.
