E. JOSEPHINE GLOVER PITTMAN

ELIZABETH JOSEPHINE GLOVER PITTMAN, a resident of the Red Banks Community near Holly Springs, Mississippi and native Fayette Countian died at 6:35 A.M. Wednesday, May 20, 2009 at her residence. She was 63 years of age and died unexpectedly.

Funeral services for Mrs. Pittman were conducted at 11 A.M. Friday, May 22nd at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville with Rev. Claudie Hammers, Retired Pastor of the Liberty Baptist Church at Laconia, officiating. Interment followed in the Mount Olive Cemetery of the District 15 Community. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes-Main Chapel of Somerville.

Mrs. Pittman was born July 24, 1945 in Somerville the daughter of the late Robert Glover and the late Bertha Perry Glover. She was educated in the Fayette County Public School System and was a graduate of the Fayette County High School in Somerville.

She was married September 4, 1964 to Roy Mason Pittman also of Fayette County. Mr. Pittman was a Supervisor for Tupelo Fibers Manufacturing Company at Tupelo before his death on November 2, 2002.

Mrs. Pittman was a member of the Mount Olive Baptist Church in Fayette County and in earlier years was an employee in the sewing department of the Somerville Manufacturing Company.

Mr. and Mrs. Pittman were former residents of Saltillo and Tupelo, Mississippi and Mrs. Pittman had resided with her daughter in the Red Banks Community of Marshall County, Mississippi for the past year.

She will be remembered for her enjoyment of music and dancing and was a devoted homemaker, enjoying special times with her grandchildren and family members.

Survivors of Mrs. Pittman include her daughter, Kristy Wilson (Steve) of Holly Springs, MS; two sons, Ronald Pittman of Whiteville and Herbert Pittman (Sunday) of Horn Lake, MS; four sisters: Sally Feathers ("Shorty") of Moscow; Nannie Michael of Booneville, MS; Leola Joyner (Hillard) of Tupelo, MS and Beverly McClure of Red Banks, MS; her brother, Billy Glover (Sue) of Williston and eight grandchildren.

Those honored to serve as casket bearers were Otis Benard, Randy Farris, Chris Glover, Richard Glover, Lynn McClure, Donald Perrigo and Jerry Perrigo.

Honorary casket bearers were Austin Pittman, Ronnie Pittman, Jr. and Steven Wilson.

The family requests that memorials be directed to the Mount Olive Cemetery Association or to the church, charity or organization of the donor's choice.
