Eleanor Edith (Green) Hart Baker

August 17, 1929 — September 7, 2013

Eleanor Green Hart Baker, longtime resident of the Eads Community and retired healthcare provider departed this life Saturday morning, September 7, 2013 at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis where she had been a patient for eight days. She was 84 years of age and died following an illness of several months.

Services of Remembrance for Mrs. Baker were conducted at 10 A.M. Monday, September 9th at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Bro. Kevin Carroll of Memphis and Bro. J.C. Fuller of Germantown officiating. Interment followed in the Alamo Cemetery in Alamo, Tennessee. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center — West Chapel at Oakland.

Mrs. Baker was born August 17, 1929 in Bells, Tennessee. She was preceded in death by her parents, J.R. Green and Dell Skipper Green. She received her education in the Tennessee Public School Systems and was a graduate of the Bells High School. Mrs. Baker was a devoted member of the Eads Baptist Church for many years and had been a resident of the Eads Community for 55 years. She was employed as a CNA at the St. Francis Hospital in Memphis for a number of years before her retirement.

Mrs. Baker will be remembered as a person devoted to her family, her church and her community. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Jessie Ray Hart who died in 1983 and Johnny Baker who died in 2004. She enjoyed traveling throughout her life and received much pleasure from her flowers and card games with family and friends.

Mrs. Baker is survived by her daughter, Deborah Twiss (Ken) of Bartlett; two sons, Steve Hart of Hickory Withe, Danny Hart (Susan) of Arlington, TN; her sister, Albie Patterson of Eads; two brothers, Jimmy Green of Madison, MS, Harry Ray Green of Bells, TN; two grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.

Those honored to serve as casketbearers were Jason Green, David Green, Jay Green, Danny Melton, Richard Duvall and Caleb Marks.

The family requests that memorials be directed to the Eads Baptist Church, 2960 Jefferson Road, Eads, TN 38028, the Shelby County Chapter of the American Heart Association, 2170 Business Center Drive, Suite 1, Bartlett, TN 38134 or the church, charity or organization of the donor’s choice.
