Elizabeth Juanita (Sterling) Hodum

Elizabeth Juanita Sterling Hodum, age 80, resident of Oakland, Tennessee, departed this life Thursday evening, April 30, 2020 at Methodist LeBonheur Germantown Hospital.

Elizabeth was born January 18, 1940 in West Helena, Arkansas, the daughter of the late Edwin Jonah Sterling and Edna Jeanette Kelly Sterling. She received her education in West Helena, Arkansas and had been a resident of the Oakland, Tennessee area since 1987. She was employed as a grocery clerk for Piggly Wiggly and Kroger for many years and had a great faith in God. Elizabeth loved the outdoors, was a creative person and enjoyed reading and rescuing animals.

Ms. Hodum is survived by her daughter, Crystal Kates of Oakland, TN; her son, Mark Hodum of Cordova, TN; her sister, Elsie “Judy” Sterling of Bartlett, TN; two brothers, Elton Jerry Sterling (Diane) of Bartlett, TN and Ellis Jerome Sterling of Holly Springs, MS; her sister-in-law, Wanda Sterling; five grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Clyde Hodum; two sisters, Evelyn Campbell and Edna Shinault and her brother, Edwin Butch Sterling.

Funeral Services for Ms. Hodum were held at 2 P.M. Wednesday, May 6, 2020 at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Rev. Bill Hendry of Somerville officiating. Interment was private.
