ELIZABETH (ANN) RAINEY WALLS

August 11, 1929 — July 30, 2009

ELIZABETH ANN RAINEY WALLS, a resident of Memphis, former resident of the Somerville Community and a person involved in restaurant management and ownership throughout much of her life died at 12:30 A.M. Thursday, July 30, 2009 at Poplar Point Health & Rehabilitation in Memphis where she had been a patient for six weeks. She was 79 years of age and died following an extended illness.

Funeral services for Ms. Walls were conducted at 11 A.M. Thursday, August 6th at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville with Rev. Loyd Shelton, Pastor of the New Hope Baptist Church in Collierville, officiating. Interment followed in the Somerville City Cemetery. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes-Main Chapel of Somerville.

Ms. Walls was born August 11, 1929 in Somerville, the daughter of the late Robin Rainey and the late Ollie Young Rainey.

She was educated in the Hardeman County Public School System where she graduated from High School and was formerly employed for a number of years at The Hut restaurant in Somerville, where she was well known as a person who enjoyed being involved in food service.

She later owned and operated the Lunch Box Restaurant on the Somerville Town Square.

Ms. Walls was a Christian and had resided for much of her life in Hardeman Fayette and Shelby Counties.

Survivors of Ms. Walls include her son, Roy "Rocky" Autry (Liz) of Phoenix, AZ; two sisters, Thelma Foster and Margaret Dix, both of Bolivar and her brother, "Buddy" Rainey (Mary Jane) of Bolivar.

Casket bearers were family members and friends.

The family requests that memorials be directed to church, charity or organization of the donor's choice.
