Elizabeth "Liz" (Hubbard) Bliss

Elizabeth “Liz” Hubbard Bliss, age 83, resident of Somerville, departed this life Tuesday evening, August 2, 2016 at the Methodist LeBonheur Germantown Hospital.

Services of Remembrance for Ms. Bliss will be conducted at 11 A.M. Saturday, August 6, 2016 at the Somerville First United Methodist Church with Dr. Joe Piercy, a retired United Methodist minister, officiating. Interment will follow in the Fayette County Memorial Park Cemetery on Highway 64. A visitation for Ms. Bliss will be from 6 to 8 P.M. Friday, August 5, 2016 at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland. Arrangements will be provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center - West Chapel at Oakland.

Ms. Bliss was born April 29, 1933 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She was a homemaker throughout her life and most recently, attended Somerville First United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Eastern Star, Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority at Oklahoma State University, the American Quarter Horse Association and the Army Wives Club. Ms. Bliss enjoyed painting, art, showing and riding horses, playing bridge and traveling. She will be remembered for the love and devotion she had to her family.

Ms. Bliss is survived by four sons, Rusty Bliss (Kristine) of Somerville, Gary Bliss (Hollis) of Crawfordville, FL, Skip Bliss of Riverview, FL, Chip Bliss (Michelle) of Whiteville; her sister, Joan Turner (Sonny) of Blanchard, OK; six grandchildren, Chelsea Zimmerman of Memphis, Jeffrey Bliss of St. Augustine, FL, Brooke Razzaghi (Hosie) of Brookline, MA, Debra Nelson (Jed) of Moscow, Jonathan Bliss of Somerville, Kyle Bliss (Samantha) of Fort Bragg, NC; and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John Russell Hubbard and Marjorie Jeffrey Hubbard.

The grandchildren of Ms. Bliss will serve as pallbearers and the family requests that memorials be directed to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Department 142, Memphis, TN 38148.
