Ellis Dickey Vogt, age 59, resident of Somerville, departed this life February 2, 2017 in Somerville.
Memorial Services for Mr. Vogt were conducted at 5 P.M. Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland. The officiating ministers were Bro. Artie Fulcher, pastor of the Shady Grove Baptist Church and Racers in Christ and Bro. Rickey Burns, pastor of the Williston Baptist Church. Interment will be private. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center - West Chapel at Oakland.
Mr. Vogt was born June 29, 1957 in Memphis, Tennessee, the son of the late Robert Kenneth Vogt and Mary Louise Gray Vogt. He received his education at Overton High School in Memphis, TN. and served his country in the United States Coast Guard. He was a volunteer firefighter and deputy director for Fayette Co. EMA. He owned P.C. Chassis Works and taught at Fayette Ware High School as an automotive mechanic. He enjoyed building race cars, hunting, fishing and riding motorcycles.
Mr. Vogt is survived by his daughter, Kimberly Yarbro (Winston) of Memphis, TN; his son, Kenny Vogt (Tashina) of Somerville, TN; two sisters, Mellie Jackson (Fred) of Southaven, MS, Bert Woodruff (Dave) of Dresden, TN; and two grandchildren, Addison Vogt and Peyton Neal.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Vogt.
