Elmer Pepper, age 82, resident of Urbana, Ohio, United States Army Veteran and husband of Judy Pepper, departed this life Wednesday, April 13, 2016 at his residence.
Services of Remembrance for Mr. Pepper were conducted at 2 P.M. Sunday, April 17, 2016 at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Bro. Gary Joyner, pastor of the Evangelical Full Gospel Church in Moscow, officiating. Entombment followed in the Memorial Gardens Cemetery at Bartlett. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center - West Chapel at Oakland.
Mr. Pepper was born June 22, 1933 in Memphis, Tennessee and was a graduate of the Technical High School in Memphis. He served his country in the United States Army in the 101 1st Airborne. In 1985, he was married to the former Judy Leatherwood and in 1988 they moved to Urbana, Ohio. He retired from International Harvester after a number of years of service. Pepper was an avid car collector who enjoyed drinking coffee, playing with his dog, Gizmo and special times with his family.
Mr. Pepper is survived by his wife, Judy Leatherwood Pepper; two daughters, Tabitha Michelle Glover and her husband, Richard, Kim Fryer and her husband, Carl; his son, Roger Pepper and his wife, Sally; his sister, Katherine Watson; seven grandchildren, Matthew Pepper, Richard Lee Glover, Brittany Glover, Shelby Fryer, Jacob Fryer, Cara Fryer, Nichole Pappass, Josh Taylor; three great grandchildren, Emma, Payton, Draven; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sam Pepper and Alice Manning Pepper; his son, Kenneth O’Neal Taylor Jr.; his sister, Mary Graham; and his brother, Ed Pepper.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers were Carl Fryer, Richard Glover, Richard Lee Glover, Matthew Pepper, Jacob Fryer and Josh Taylor.
The family requests that memorials be directed to the church, charity or organization of the donor's choice.
