Emma Magadaline Tapp, age 89, resident of Somerville, Tennessee and wife of the late Robert Holt Tapp, Sr., departed this life Saturday afternoon, March 30, 2024 at her home.
Magadaline was born March 3, 1935 in Mason, Tennessee, the daughter of the late Harry T Walker and Adaline Pattat Walker Yelvington. She was raised in Mason and married Robert Holt Tapp, Sr. on September 18, 1954. To this union three children were born: Betty Ann (Fred) Moore of Somerville, TN, Robert “Holt” (Lisa) Tapp, Jr. of Braden, TN and Randal (BJ) Tapp of Somerville, TN. She was a member of Oak Grove United Methodist Church. She and Mr. Tapp were among the founding families of Fayette Academy. After the death of her husband, she became very active in the family farming operation. Traveling, cooking and sewing were among her enjoyments in life. Being a stay at home wife and mother, Magadaline devoted her life to her family.
Along with her children, she is survived by grandchildren, Bridget (Bradley) Evans, Joanne (Randy) Bradley, Janet (Trey) Warren & Robert (Ashtyn) Tapp; great grandchildren, Katelyn Evans, Breyden Evans, & Cory Holt Bradley; and her sister, Betty Garrison of Covington.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by granddaughter, Rachel Moore and her sister, Martha Sharp.
Visitation with family was on Friday April 5, 2024 from 5 to 7 P.M. at the Peebles Main Chapel in Somerville, Tennessee. A private graveside service will be at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials to St. Jude Memorial Giving, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959 or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
