Ernest Atkeison, Jr.

Ernest Chevis Atkeison, Jr., resident of the Somerville Community and Certified Public Accountant died Thursday afternoon, April 28, 2011 at his residence. He was 52 years of age.
Services of Remembrance for Mr. Atkeison were conducted at 2 P.M. Tuesday, May 3rd at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Dr. Ken Story of the Somerville First Baptist Church officiating with special remarks given by Dale Gaither. Interment followed in the Somerville City Cemetery. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes—West Chapel of Oakland.
A native of Fayette County,
Mr. Atkeison was born September 16, 1958, the son of the former Jean Garrison and the late Ernest Atkeison, Sr. He
was a graduate of Fayette Academy and received both Bachelor and Master Degrees in Business Administration with Honors from the University of Tennessee. Mr. Atkeison was a former resident of Arkansas where he pursued his career in accounting and financial services. He was a member of the Helena First Baptist Church and a former member of the Somerville First Baptist Church. An accomplished chess player and animal lover, Mr. Atkeison will be remembered as an avid UT sports fan with a deep devotion to his family.
He is survived by his mother and step-father, Jean Atkeison Vernon and Dr. Bob Vernon of Oakland, his brother, Ed Atkeison and wife Kelley of Memphis and many extended family members.
Those honored to serve as active casketbearers were Mike Atkeison, Carlton DeFoor, Dale Gaither, James Jones, Paul Jones and Willie Unson.
Honorary casketbearers were Nathan Atkeison, Ed Harvey, Tom Minor, Tommy Moore, Miles Morris, Bill Newby, Joe Shelton and David Waldrip.
The family requests that memorials be directed to the
Humane Society for the donor’s choice.
