Erwin Morris Kee, Jr.

March 29, 1942 — June 23, 2016

Erwin Morris Kee, Jr., age 74, resident of Somerville and husband of Daphane Fox Kee, departed this life Thursday afternoon, June 23, 2016 at the St. Francis Hospital in Bartlett.

Services of Remembrance for Mr. Kee were conducted at 3 P.M. Sunday, June 26, 2016 at the Warren Community Church in Somerville with Dr. Kenneth Culver, pastor of the church, officiating. Interment followed in the Somerville City Cemetery. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center - Main Chapel of Somerville.

Mr. Kee was born March 29, 1942 in Somerville. He was a graduate of Fayette County High School where he played football for the Fayette County High School Panthers and received his Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering at the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. He was married November 21, 1986 to the former Daphane Fox.

Mr. Kee was employed with Esso (now Exxon) from 1964 until 1973 as an engineer for offshore oil rigs. He served as the Fayette County Highway Superintendent from 1974 until 1998 and afterwards, served as a real estate agent with Alliance Realty until his retirement in 2014. Mr. Kee was an active member of the Warren Community Church in Somerville where he received much pleasure in serving as a Trustee of the church. In earlier years, he enjoyed playing tennis and in later years enjoyed trout fishing, golfing and shooting billiards. Mr. Kee was an avid University of Tennessee football fan for many years.

Mr. Kee is survived by his wife of 29 years, Daphane Fox Kee of Somerville; three sons, Greg Kee and his wife, Millie, of Paris, Texas, Andy Kee and his wife, Jennifer, of Somerville, Jeremy Kee and his wife, Andrea, of Somerville; his sister, Sarabeth Taylor and her husband, Charles, of Somerville; and six grandchildren, Victoria Kee, Gage Kee, Amelia Kee, Payton Davis Kee, Scout Kee and Fisher Kee.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Erwin Morris Kee, Sr. and Dorris Amelia Oates Kee and his infant grandson, Charles Thomas Kee.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers were Ronnie Neill, Lee Saunders, Vip Lewis, Brad West, Ed Baker and Paul Williams.

The family requests that memorials be directed to the Warren Community Church, 11800 U.S. Highway 64, Somerville, TN 38068.
