Eugene "Gene" Nix

Eugene "Gene" Nix, age 81, resident of the Somerville and Oakland Communities, native of Red Bay, Alabama and husband of the late Gertie Nix, departed this life Friday morning, September 19, 2014 at the National HealthCare Center in Somerville.

Services of Remembrance for Mr. Nix were conducted at the Graveside at 3 P.M. Monday, September 22nd with Rev. Kent Bailey of Collierville officiating. Interment followed in the Fayette County Memorial Park Cemetery on Highway 64. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center - West Chapel at Oakland.

Mr. Nix was born June 26, 1933 in Red Bay, Alabama. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde Nix and Irean Holcolmb Nix. He moved with his family at an early age to Mississippi and received his education in the Mississippi Public School System. He was the husband of Gertie Nix, who preceded him in death. Mr. Nix was a resident of the Somerville and Oakland Communities since 1991 and was of the Baptist faith. He enjoyed special times with his family and friends.

Mr. Nix is survived by his brother, William H. Nix and his wife, Maggie, of Jackson, Tennessee.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Jimmy Nix.
