Eurice Ferguson Walls was born on February 2, 1926 in Pontotoc County, Mississippi to James Franklin Ferguson and Lorina Washington. She passed away on Wednesday, August 8, 2018 at the Baptist Reynolds Hospice House in Collierville, Tennessee.
On November 19, 1943, she married her sweetheart, Wilburn “Bill” Eugene Walls. They were happily married just short of 68 years. At the time, Bill was an Army Sargent during World War II and when he was deployed to Europe, Eurice moved to Memphis. She was employed by Fisher Aircraft as “Rosie the Riveter”. She worked the night shift riveting B-25 airplane wings for the war effort.
After the war ended May 8, 1945, Bill arrived home in October. They moved to Mississippi briefly but finally settled in Memphis. Eurice loved working, meeting new people and making new friends. She worked for Holiday Inn, Inc. in the accounting department for 22 years until the company was sold. She couldn’t stay retired for long. She found her dream job as a receptionist at Collierville Christian Academy at 69 years old. She loved the people, parents, teachers and especially the children. She met so many wonderful people and made lifelong friends.
Sadly, Bill passed away in October 2011. Luckily, the wonderful friends she had made helped her with the void. Eurice was a member of Wooddale/Southwind Church of Christ for 25 years and Germantown Church of Christ for the past 3 years.
Eurice was blessed with a loving family. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Lisa. She is survived by her son, Michael and his wife, Sherry, of Collierville, TN and her daughter, Deborah Jones and her husband, Clay, of York, SC. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Kevin and his wife, Andrea, Kelly, Whitney and her husband, John, Chelsea and Will, and six great-grandchildren.
