Eva Nell Lee Rogers, resident of Somerville and wife of Jerry L. Rogers, Sr., departed this life Sunday morning, September 11, 2016 at her residence.
Services of Remembrance for Mrs. Rogers were conducted at 3 P.M. Wednesday, September 14, 2016 at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville with Rev. Ken Burnette officiating. Interment followed in the Somerville City Cemetery. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center - Main Chapel of Somerville.
Mrs. Rogers was born January 7, 1944 in Somerville. She received her education in the Fayette County Public School System and was a lifelong resident of the Somerville area. She was married December 23, 1959 to Jerry Lee Rogers, Sr. and she was a member of the former New Life Baptist Church in Somerville. Mrs. Rogers ran a house cleaning business for many years and enjoyed preparing food and outdoor activities that included fishing, gardening and swinging on the front porch. Special times with her family, especially her grandchildren and her great-granddaughter was an important part of her life.
Mrs. Rogers is survived by her husband of 56 years, Jerry L. Rogers, Sr. of Somerville; two sons, Jerry L. Rogers, Jr. (Barbara) of Somerville, Timothy Wayne Rogers (Vicki) of Somerville; four sisters, Betty Webb of Como, MS, Willia Wharton (Eddie) of Oakland, Millie Taylor (Ricky) of Somerville, Vickie Parks (Donnie) of Somerville; two brothers, Roger Lee of Como, MS, Max Lee (Peggy) of Somerville; three grandchildren, Nicole Pickett (Jon) of Somerville, Christopher Wayne Rogers of Somerville, Chelsie Rogers of Somerville; and her great-granddaughter, Emma Hodge.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter Edward Lee and Reba Estelle Russell Lee and her brother, Howard Wayne “Bubbie” Lee.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers were Jimmy Rogers, Jr., Jon Pickett, Mike Rogers, Shane Parks, Eddie Rogers, Jr. and Terry German. Honorary pallbearers were Donnie Parks, Lowell E. Rogers, Glen Rogers and Keith Cooper.
