EVELYN HOLDEN SPRAYBERRY, resident of Memphis, native of the Somerville Community and wife of Dallas Sprayberry, died Thursday evening, August 4, 2011 at Spring Gate Health and Rehabilitation Center where she had resided since 2005. She was 90 years of age and died following an extended illness.
Services of Remembrance for Mrs. Sprayberry were conducted at 2 P.M. Saturday, August 6th at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville with Bro. Tony Watkins of Moscow officiating. Interment followed in the Rehobeth Cemetery near Somerville. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes and Cremation Center - Main Chapel of Somerville.
Mrs. Sprayberry was born September 21, 1920 in Somerville, the daughter of the late Willie Max Holden and the late Freddie Erwin Holden. She received her education in the Fayette County Public School System and was a resident of Fayette County before moving to the Memphis area a number of years ago. Mrs. Sprayberry was the wife of Dallas Sprayberry and she and her husband were owners and operators of the Sprayberry Commercial Electrical Contractors in Memphis for many years before their retirement.
Mrs. Sprayberry was a Christian and enjoyed outdoor activities that included nature and fishing. Preparing food for her family and family outings were activities that she enjoyed.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Sprayberry is survived by her two daughters, Juanita Vaughan of Memphis, TN and Mary Vivian Vaughan of Ridgely, TN; her brother, David Holden of Somerville, TN; three grandchildren, many great grandchildren and many many great great grandchildren.
Those honored to serve as casketbearers were Robbie Sprayberry, Bob Sprayberry, Brian Tipler, Ray Lariviere, Horace Holden and Wayne Holden.
