Fay Zola (Caldwell) Wilder

March 30, 1925 — October 22, 2010

FAY CALDWELL WILDER, recent resident of Tupelo, Mississippi, former resident of the Oakland Community and wife of the late Clarence Douglas Wilder died Friday morning October 22, 2010 at the Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo where she had been a resident for three weeks. She was 85 years of age and died following an extended illness.
A Service of Remembrance for Mrs. Wilder was conducted at 4 P.M. Sunday, October 24 th at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Rev. Carl Meyer of Oakland First Baptist Church, officiating. A private interment was conducted at the West Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery in Memphis. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes—West Chapel of Oakland.
Mrs. Wilder was born on March 30, 1925 in Pontotoc, Mississippi, the daughter of the late Charles Fred Caldwell and the late Molly Snow Parrish Caldwell. She received her education in the Pontotoc Public School System and married on January 11, 1947 to Clarence Douglas Wilder, retired salesman in the Mens Clothing Department for the Dillards Department Stores in Memphis. Mr. Wilder preceded her in death on February 16, 2009.
Mrs. Wilder was a resident of Memphis for a number of years before moving to the Oakland Community. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Memphis and had been associated with the Oakland First Baptist Church while living in Fayette County. Mrs. Wilder was homemaker throughout her life and had a love for her family and pets. She enjoyed special time with her husband and daughter.
Mrs. Wilder is survived by her daughter, Beverly Jo Wilder of Oakland and a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister, Freddie Mae Simmons and her brothers, J. L. Caldwell and Byron Troyce Caldwell.
